Canadian Professor of Anthropology to discuss book and impact of violence on women in Afghanistan

Dr Parin Dossa, Professor of Anthropology at Simon Fraser University, will speak at the Ismaili Centre, Toronto about her book Afghanistan Remembers: Gendered Narrations of Violence and Culinary Practices. The book examines the recollections “of violence through memories and food practices” of Afghan women, according to the University of Toronto Press. “Her work reveals how the suffering and trauma of violence has been rendered socially invisible following decades of life in a war-zone.”
